Zambian Emerald Valuation

Greetings,

I have a certified 5.37ct oval cut dark green emerald from Zambia, heavily included, translucent, fissure/chip on one of the back facets as pictured.

Any real world experience with piece valuation? I.e. Likely private market value? (IGS Valuation tool and ChatGPT is suggesting far higher price than I believe it would fetch).

IGS ($35,442)
ChatGPT ($18,795, though when I specify chip/surface inclusion it estimates $2,685 - $8055)

Pictures for reference.

Input would be much appreciated

Hi Damon,

Have you used GemVal?

It can provide a more refined valuation if the questions are answered accurately.

As for the stone, is the chipped portion of the pavilion the cause of the non-symmetry for the cut? It looks very non-proportional. This would definitely impact the valuation for a oval cut stone.

Cheers!

Troy

Hi,

Looking at the current market, I would say that the actual value is quite a bit below your lowest estimate.
