What can this be, need appraisal and identification

Dear all, I have got this from my 80 yrs old mother 30 yrs ago, she told me this was the first gift she bought for herself in her teens worked as a rubber tapper. I need your kind advices on the type of stone. Thank you.

Hello! This is what is called “Slocum Opal”, witch is one of the first imitation of opal. It’s made of glass with little flakes of thin layers of metallic film. It was invented by John Slocum during the 60’s. :wink:
