I have a heat tested sapphire that has a scratch. What gives when sapphires are supposed to be relatively hard/
Does it polish out? But are you sure it is a sapphire. Who did the treatment?
I have yet to scratch any of my sapphires, but I have not tried to either…polishing is fun enough.
It is to deep to polish out. I heat tested it myself. It jumped way up to the top, almost diamond. I have difficulty polishing. It is also on 14k gold setting.
Is it possable that it was a glass filled sapphire? If bought on Ebay many of them are glass filled & will show cracks after heating them. I think they glass fill them at a temp of around 700 degrees F. I have cast some of them in place experimenting with it…
