Ruby natural or synthetic

Just need a,second opinion on this, looks natural, eg. Striae look straight, everything else points to natural. Please see images, not too clear but the best i could get with camera. This is at 40x magnification.

Thanks

Hi Raja,

It’s hard to tell what those lines are. The bright areas where the lines stand out the most, seem to be from the light source, almost like a reflection. If these were growth lines (striae), they would not normally be brightly visible with a light source.

I could be wrong here, so can you please describe how the light source was used in these images? Was the light shining through the stone from below, or was it above the stone?

There are some areas showing silk type or bubble strands and a few inclusions.

Cheers!

So this is darkfield illumination, when viewed through microscope there is no light reflection as in the photos,

its very clear and easy to see the lines, which are easily distinguishable from polish marks.

Silk type and bubble strands, what does this indicate ?

So the reflection is caused by phone camera lens vs microscope lens.

I do have an md35 camera. When i bought i didnt know it was low power 0.3mp.

But it doesnt pick any image up (basically just a black screen) unless a strong light is placed really really close to the stone and then it basically defeats the objective of darkfield illumination.

Again appreciated
