I am a new student and I was given a Rayner spectroscope and I am trying to learn how to
get a clear image. My question is a Diffraction spectroscope easier to use?

Prism spectroscope only need to adjust to your eye the focusing tube. the diffraction grating spectroscope I do find easier to use as no adjustment needed.
the spectroscope is not an easy instrument to use you need lots of practice to get your eye in. A lot of gemstone does not give you the perfect spectrum and if you did get a perfect spectrum you would be worried that it may be synthetic. Good gemstones to practice on Garnets, sapphire, peridot, chrysoberyl, most these are reasonably easy to observe their spectrum.
