How to identify & valuate ceylon orange jadeite?

I have an orange jade stone which has most characteristics of jadeite.

How can I identify & valuate?

Orange jadeite from Sri Lanka? Sounds unlikely but you never know. Best way to separate jadeite from nephrite would be refractive index.

Is it between 1.660-1.680?

make sure by using refractometer and u must get density of that stone, beware of dye orange, maybe chelsea filter can help u too

Actually since jadeite and nephrite are rarely faceted flat or smooth enough to get a good or solid RI on a refractometer; the best way to make the separation between Jadeite and Nephrite or serpentine for that matter is by Specific Gravity. It never fails. ;))
