Hello! Happy to be a newbie in this very informative community! I have read and google searched and done all I can do online to seek confidence in identification of this very pretty stone in a necklace that I unfortunately inherited with my step mothers passing.
There are many options for this color stone, but I wanted to get the communities opinion! Any one have a idea which type pf gem this is more so than the others? It is my favorite color - but I am too scared of wearing it assuming it will fall off into the place lost socks go. Thanks everyone, excited for your responses!
Hi Brittany!
Welcome to the forum!
That necklace is elegant and unique. Unfortunately, it is nearly impossible to identify a stone with images alone. We need information to help narrow down the list of gemstone species.
If you don’t have any of the basic gemology tools available, I suggest you contact your local gem/mineral/rock hound club to seek access to some tools.
Another option would be to find a local jewelry store with a staff gemologist that works with colored stones.
The pictures you posted are fairly good. I can see some details of the pendant and chain design. There doesn’t seem to be any hallmark or assay stamps visible. Have you seen any on the back of the triquetra link or near the bail?
The pavillion of the green stone has some chipped areas which could give clues to the stone’s durability.
Cheers!
