Gemstone valuation services

Does anyone on here use GemVal to get a general value on their gemstones? And has anyone had recent problems with GemVal’s website? I have a MAJOR problem going on, and I need to know if it is on my end or theirs. Please respond ASAP, to oldtroll57@gmail.com Thank you.

Absolutely LOVE gemval. Their list of stones, and values are very comprehensive.

Having said that, I quit using them 2 years ago because I was severely frustrated with my continual log in failures, billing problems, and the amount of time before someone would get back to me.

When it worked it was great.
But didn’t work often enough for me…

I started trying to get ahold of them on 1/7/25. Have made 3 attempts so far, still no response. Being familiar with them you will know what I am talking about. On the My Personal Collection section, I have more than 25 pages. But when I go to review them The site won’t go past the 1st page. Every page after #1 comes up with “Fatal Error” and a whole lot of numbers and words. My membership auto renews on 3/5/25. If I may ask? Who or what service do you use now?

International Gem Society has a decent valuation page. It used to be much more robust, it’s “okay” now.

Not looking forward to it, but I guess I’ll let it renew. Then delete everything and start over with what I have documented so far plus all the ones I haven’t valued yet. I guess that’s just part of collecting and having a collection.
Thanks for all your input.

I am sorry that Gem-val has numerous people with unanswered issues. Like many of you, I have used Gem-val and liked it, but I wanted something I could tie into my existing database(s). I eventually went straight to a simple Excel and brought IGS price ranges (probably at work) to work with a conglomeration of internet prices related to specific stone varieties. I use simple probability P10, P50, and P90 to understand how the markets price stones. Happy to share

Please share - that sounds very useful for valuing all the stones I inherited!
