Gemstone identification

Can anyone help me identify this gemstone ?

Did you look up the Refractive Index number for this stone?

Hard to tell by this picture. But the yellow color fading to semi clear is often found with heated yellow Zircon.

Photographing it on a white surface would be best. Take several from different angles.

What is the SG of this stone? Anyone who gives an ID from a pic is really not doing you any favors. Did you ask a jeweler? A graduate gemologist?

Picture of the stone is not clear but it seems like yellow zircon. It would be better if you took picture of stone at white surface and some zoom position then the stone could be identify in a better way. For providing good image of gemstone you can see www.gempundit.com stone images. How they captured stone images.

HOW LIMITED IS SPECIFIC GRAVITY TEST. ARE OTHER TESTS NECCESSARY? WHAT METHODS OF SG TESTS ARE KNOWN WITHOUT TOOLS OF THE TRADE?JAMES

“Tools of the Trade” is the only way one can identify what a “shiny rock” actually is. The process is one of elimination until there is only one mineral/gem left.
