I think these are Emeralds but I’m not 100% sure. Does anyone know how I can find out for sure what they are? Also, how much does it cost to get certification of identification for one gem? Also if these are Emeralds what might they cost? They weigh 0.65 carats and 1.55 carats
They appear to be emerald from what I can see. Smaller one looks like a chip/s on side. Not the best clarity or color either but it’s decent. Small one would be a hard sell, larger one I think you could get couple hundred for. Lab report from GIA (most reputable lab in USA) would be $70 for report, $85 for origin report, but you need a lab account with them and then add shipping cost to and from). With a report, maybe an end consumer/collector will buy it for a premium.
Larger one can also be a copper bearing Tourmaline as well with the bluish green color, and would be more valuable I think.
They look like emeralds. Can’t be sure just from a photo. The price of emeralds vary significantly depending on the amount of filler and type of filler used. This is acceptable practice. Of course, Columbian emeralds can get the highest prices followed by Zambian and Brazilian emeralds. Before going to a lab, look for a local gemologist and or appraiser. I would start with asking to pay for verifying the stone identification and if they can see significant filling or very little. If the stones are ID as emerald and very little filling by your local person, you may decide it is worth the time and expense of getting a lab report.
