This opal is quite spectacular and is at the moment being set in this design.
Love the opal. The setting is a bit overwhelming though, and pulls attention away from the opal.
How I would have designed it:
- Keep the central oval & make the oval thicker; using twisted green, yellow, and rose gold cording
- Keep the oval and top two & bottom two loops in white gold. Replace accents with chrome diopside, lemon citrine, and red zircon. Or other similar colored gems.
It is a beautiful stone and I see where you are coming from, but I think the filigree and the diamond accents will not detract from the opal hopefully. I hope the ring itself will be completed this week, the beginning of next, I will post a picture of it when it is finished.
You have shown me a few pictures of that opal and I believe that that opal will hold up beautifully with that open scroll work design. I can’t wait to see the finished piece. The CAD work does not show the true beauty of the finished piece.
Waiting with baited breath.
Thanks little Otter.
