Determining karat size of faceted gemstones

I have a number of faceted gemstones to sell. I have the weight and dimension of each but I need to know how to determine the karat size.

Carat is the weight. 1 gram 5 carat
One carat 0.2 gram.

Is this for all gemstones,not including diamonds?
