Coral or something else?

We provide senior relocation, downsizing and estate liquidation. As a result, we are sometimes asked to liquidate estate jewelry. One jeweler said this necklace was coral, another said it was not coral, but couldn’t tell what it was.

Looks a lot like coral to me. Some of the pieces has striations that is intrinsic to natural coral.

Thank you. Has it been dyed? The one cut surface looks cream colored rather than red.

Looks like red dyed bamboo coral. You can purchase it at any craft store.

Yes it looks dyed since the color inside is different.
