I’m looking at buying a ruby and was wondering what is more important/valuable: a pigeon colored ruby that is heated or a red (not pigeon colored or purple) colored ruby that is unheated. The pricing guides give me only a vague idea, and I wanted other people’s opinion on the matter. Thanks!

It’s a feeling you have to
decide for yourself. I’ve been doing gemstones
many years and staying about 5 months up in the mountains
with my miners friends in Sri Lanka.
For me, only gemstones like No evidence of heat or other enhancement apply. The luster often gets worse with heat treatment.
