Hi Everyone,
Would some one be able to give me a rough estimate of what an 8ct red spinel might be worth?
Thank you
It depends on the color, the origin, and if it’s been treated. The best spinel is non treated Burmese, and is deep red. Orange or brown colours tend to diminish the value. If the stone can be checked by GIA for authenticity, then the value would be approximately $10,000 per carat.
Hi,
Can a Gemologist do the job instead of the GIA?
Thank you
A gemologist should be able to tell if you indeed have a spinel. However, it will take a very experienced gemologist to determine if it is a synthetic. Usually, it would take a spectrometer to make the test… but there are scores of labs out there other than GIA.
With regards value, most certainly color, inclusions, cut… etc. will affect value. You could be in a huge price range.
Hi,
What about dark blue sapphire, do you know how much it is? Please.
Thank you
Anywhere between $5 to $50,000
Hi beargems,
Can you let me know of any reputable labs you know if just as qualified as GIA but may be less expensive. I have so many fantastic gems im trying to liquidate but if someone wants a cert then i dint want to pay the GIA price in each one.
I live in the southeast us.
Thanks abd Regards,
Ken
