I am a retired scientist formerly active in forensic and health sciences who has spent several years investigating an unusual rock called a “carbonatite” in Central Australia. This hosts the largest zircon crystals in the world: a puzzle I am trying to decipher by studying the minerals found with this zircon. My self funded research has led to two publications thus far, the latest being in the Mineralogical Record 2019. The next forthcoming one is on the petrogenesis of the unusual zircon.
