Odd reaction

We’re cutting a stone with oil, not sure what it is. Its greenish yellow. The cutting is producing a bright pink gel. Does anyone has any suggestions what this gel is?

If your stone contains iron hydroxides eg yellow limonite it may be a reaction between an anti-oxidant or acid stabiliser in your cutting oil reacting with the iron. Or it may be another element other than iron that forms a colored complex with the oil’s additives. Such color change normally denotes either colored complex formation or a change in pH ie increased or decreased acid-base behaviour.
