I recently gave a jeweler a 6.62ct., IF heliodor (10x14x6.6mm) to set in a pendant for my wife. The stone fractured while being set. Has anyone had any similar experience? What are the most likely explanations for this to happen to a flawless ( under 10x) stone? Would uneven heating of the stone lead to fracture?
